Entry #8. Music Has The Power To Heal
Do you ever found yourself so affected by a song that you're on the verge of crying? Have you ever gone to a live concert that made your bad day better? Or heard a song that made you feel something?
We often feel like crying when we listen to music because we are moved by amazement and appreciation. The sensation is one of awe at the realization of what other brains are capable of. Awe is defined as a sensation of being overwhelmed by the object of grandeur, accompanied by sensitivity to greatness. Music can move and transform us.
People who have trouble expressing their emotions verbally may find it easier to communicate their feelings via music. Music can extract emotions within us if we listen closely.
Billy Joel once said, "I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music." I think this quote sums up how I want to portray music in this post.
There's something universal about the creative arts that benefit health, especially mental health. Despite their diversity, visual arts, theatre, literature, and music all have one thing in common: they make us feel, offer us meaning, encourage contemplation, and bring us together.
Musical therapies are increasingly being employed as additions to other types of medical therapy, even though they are rarely used as stand-alone treatments. They assist us in coping with stress and mobilizing our bodies' natural healing abilities. Music is a form of emotional language, with its many components and rhythms conveying various emotions. The words and sound of the music move within us, creating vibrations that ignite our senses.
Music is a language of emotions, creating a different perspective in all of us; we just have to listen hard enough to feel it.
I completely agree with your blog. Especially when you said sometimes when people have trouble expressing their emotions it's easier for them to use music. I thought it was unique and fun to read.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this there are so many songs now a days that help people to understand there emotions. Even though the person who listens to a certain song on repeat might not know it but that can be the song or an artist who is describing how you feel at the moment. Music is a great way to connect with your emotions and a great way to get out your emotions for some people.
ReplyDeleteMusic is a great addition to our lives. Not all but most tell important life stories that are relatable to the average person. 1-800 by Logic was a great addition to the world of music that reaches out to a topic that is rising and not talk about enough.
