Entry #6. Growing Up.
Growing Up
When we close our eyes and imagine our childhood, we see simplicity, laughter, and joy. We go back to where we experience everything for the first time: heartache, pain, and love. I think we can all remember a time where we looked back on our lives and wanted to turn back the clock. The thing is, we can't turn back the clock, we can't change the past, we can just change the now.
The thief is not ourselves but time. Time is continuous and cannot slow down. Growing up is never easy. You gain more responsibilities, make new friends, and wonder what the future will bring. But in life, we cannot hold on to the past, and we have to let go of things that hold us back. The future can be scary and uncertain. When we try to escape ourselves, life has an interesting way of creating situations that force us to come back. To look at who we are. The thing is that growing brings us to a new experience with life. Growing up can bring out the very best of our lives.
Life and responsibilities are difficult but, through them, we learn to grow, love and nurture others.
Since childhood, we have always wanted to grow up, live on our own, and call the shots, but we never realized how hard life is. We have had the thought of growing up, becoming rich and famous, owning a big house, marrying a celebrity, and so on. The reality is that there will be hardships, and we won't always have it easy. However, how amazing life will be when we figure it out and learn to love it, and learn how to love ourselves in the process. The hardships unite us into something greater.
We may not marry a celebrity or become a millionaire, but we do find love during the process. Life doesn't have to be black and white all of the time; we can bring color to it. Look at life from a different focus, not with our innocent eyes, but with eyes that have experienced grief and joy numerous times. We see things from a different perspective now. May we embrace the change, may we cherish the change, and may we use it for good. May we all grow in humility and light. To make the world a better place as a "grown-up."

ReplyDeleteThese last few years have almost gone by unnoticed for me. It’s crazy how much has happened since 2020 I haven’t had time to sit down and think, that really my childhood is over in 2 months. It’s very stressing, but like you said, time doesn’t slow nor wait for you. It’s something I, still struggling with.
ReplyDeleteI love your post! I always wanted to grow up faster when I was little. I just wanted to be an adult. Little did I know it wasn't as fun as I thought. Although getting older means more responsibilities it doesn't mean we have to stop having fun. I really like how you said that time was the thief and not us. It's really meaningful when you think about it because people always tend to blame themselves.
